Design Intern, 2024 Summer U.S.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Execute various interior design tasks to enhance professional knowledge and skills.

  • Contribute to the development of design concepts under the guidance of senior staff.

  • Follow instructions meticulously to accomplish assigned tasks and projects.

  • Meet project schedules while ensuring the delivery of high-quality work.

  • Collaborate with senior designers and team members to implement design solutions.

  • Adhere to established standards and guidelines in the execution of design processes.

  • Participate in team meetings, discussions, and brainstorming sessions.

  • Stay informed about current interior design trends, materials, and industry advancements.

  • Maintain organized documentation of design processes and project-related information.

  • Actively seek feedback from senior staff to improve design capabilities.

  • Problem-solve and address design challenges with creativity and innovation.

  • Demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning and professional development.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Be currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program (marketing, business, or related field) and returning to the program after the completion of the internship, graduating by June 2024

  • Be able to commit to a full-time (40hrs / week) - 12-week internship

  • Have a basic knowledge of Excel (e.g. Pivot tables, VLookUp, etc.)

  • Skillset to problem solve by writing and communicating well

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Internship experiences related to interior design

Interior Designer, U.S.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for initiating and developing design and construction document drawings through completion for assigned projects in conformance with the requirements, applicable codes, and design criteria established by the project’s discipline engineers.

  • Under minimal supervision, develops complex interior design drawings.

  • Exercises sound judgment in assessing problem situations or complex design issues and uses effective approaches for choosing a course of action or developing appropriate solutions.

  • Intermediate knowledge of discipline’s materials costs and cost analysis and forecasting methods.

  • Review completed work with design and drafting personnel responsible for its completion to ensure accuracy and compliance with codes and design data.

  • Advises the Interior Design Director/Leader about status of assignment(s) with respect to schedule, budgets, delays, and adverse problems.

  • Understands and assists with the planning and scheduling of design tasks associated with assigned projects.

  • Understands the role of each of the other disciplines.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's of Science or Bachelor of Fine Arts with a focus on Interior Design from a CIDA-accredited institution.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of the application of color, materials, and aesthetic form.

  • Familiarity with space planning methodology.

  • Familiarity with furnishings and equipment.

  • Basic sketching and rendering skills.

  • Basic interior architecture detailing skills.

  • Working knowledge of CDs and procedures.

  • Intermediate MS Office Suite skills.

  • Ability to use Adobe Creative Suite skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • An internship in ID or Architectural firms is a plus.
